(Scheduled to be released on February 4, 2020. Right now we are at Version 79.0.3945.117)
The new Chrome version will automatically block push notifications when…
- … the user rarely accepts push notification permission requests
- … the website offering the push notification has a low opt-in rate
Chrome will be introducing what it calls “Quiet UI”. Users will be notified that a push notification has been blocked and it will give users the opportunity to unblock the push notification.
Google will collect data on the automatic enrollment in push notification blocking to further optimize its processes.
I personally welcome this, as I find push notifications to be an annoying form of interruption marketing.
