Do-Not-Call List: 2.7 Million Numbers

In a I mentioned that almost 1 million Canadians tried to get onto the national Do-Not-Call-List – only 334,000 succeeded. Today I read that the registry now holds nearly 2.7 million telephone numbers.

That is for the I think 35 million people that live in Canada.

Pretty amazing.

Are You On Do Not Call List?

Wow.

More than 1,000,000 Canadians (out of what, 35 million?) tried to register for Canada’s national do-not-call-list yesterday. The CRTC (Canadian Radio-television and Telecommunications Commission) had to put a note on the home page of its website: please try again later.

As of 4:00 p.m. today, 334,000 people managed to register, either online or by phone, according to CRTC spokesman Denis Carmel.

But don’t give up – try again if you did not manage to register yet.

After all, once your name is on that list telemarketers are not allowed to call your number anymore, punishable with fines up to $15,000.
